Husband and wife with twin 5 year old boys moved to Door County, WI in the Summer of 2016. The goal was to start a business, make art, and live the good life. This is my brother. My brother is deaf. When he was six months old he contracted spinal meningitis. The fever nearly ended his young fragile life. Instead he lost his hearing. Fast forward thirty years he almost lost his life due to unthoughtful choices. I believe my brother is a good person and I love him even though I havent seen him since Christmas 2010. Ive tried to see him since then, but he was at a place in his life where he thought he didnt need me in his life. I couldnt save him from this dark place if I tried.
This news story is a snap shot of him. It does not complete his story or show you the real Jason Sheehan. I would say this about nearly anyone. I myself have made stupid thoughtless mistakes. I know they dont make the person,unless the mistake is not learned from. I like to learn from my mistakes and grow as a person. I hope my brother takes the 80 days in a cell to reflect and to learn from this.
I believe my brother has a bright future he just has to believe in it and fight for it. Yes being deaf is a disadvantage in many cases, but there are advantages. Just ask a parent with screaming kids... just kidding. You need to tell those kids that the right job is to take a deep breath.
