Lets face it there are not a lot of sunny dirt roads in Door County. You can find a few "Rustic Roads". The winding Road at the tip of Door County on your way to Washington Island is one of those story book roads. Back to the Bernstein Bears. Those children's book have wedge there way into my heart since I was a young child. I only had one out of the fifty plus books. Bernstein Bears and " The Truth". I would stare at the pictures and just day dream about God knows what?
When I had my twin boys one of the first books I bought for them was Bernstein Bears and The Truth. Thats when the fever set in. Pretty soon I was window shopping at Barns and Nobles. I splurged one day and bought 4 Bernstein Bear books. That set me back a cool 25 bucks. All I could think is It's going to cost me a thousand dollars to get all the books.
Then one day I was walking at a Savers, which is a large thrift shop in the Northeast U.S.. A thought came to my mind go to the book area and search! I searched through every book in the children's section. I came out with at least 20 new books at $1.25 each and I think there was a buy 5 books get one free deal on top of that.
I left Savers feeling like a millionaire! Now I had a great start to my collection and a new strategy to get it without spending 5 dollars a book. I'm not saying don't go to Barnes & Nobles. There is value in buying books and other things at a retail price. My beautiful wife Ellie just bought there 25 dollar membership. You can get 10% off on a lotta stuff even Starbucks!
I'm just saying if you wanna go to Bear Country and live there with your children, don't underestimate a good thrift store!
