Knock Knock Turkey Time

I have recently purchased tickets to come back to Wisconsin just before Christmas. Southwest Airlines seems to have the best deal at 69 dollars per flight from Logan airport in Boston to Midway airport in Chicago, and back again. 4 people round trip with taxes for somewhere near 550 dollars. I will be renting a car with National and selecting from the Emerald Isle. Then the 3-4 hour drive to Mineral Point, WI. This is not Door County.

However, I think its crazy to be the Door County Artist who doesn't expand his or her horizons. Staying in Door County exclusively would limit my wild curiosity. Not that you can't live and stay in Door County forever and be awesome. I just need to excuse the fact that I am not there. Nor, will I be traveling to Door County during this trip back to the cheese State.

Hey, there is a pretty good art scene in Mineral Point. You can hardly listen to Wisconsin Public Radio without hearing a "commer
cial" about Mineral Point. I will be heade…

Bernstein Bears in the 21st Century

Lets face it there are not a lot of sunny dirt roads in Door County. You can find a few "Rustic Roads". The winding Road at the tip of Door County on your way to Washington Island is one of those story book roads. Back to the Bernstein Bears. Those children's book have wedge there way into my heart since I was a young child. I only had one out of the fifty plus books. Bernstein Bears and " The Truth". I would stare at the pictures and just day dream about God knows what?

When I had my twin boys one of the first books I bought for them was Bernstein Bears and The Truth. Thats when the fever set in. Pretty soon I was window shopping at Barns and Nobles. I splurged one day and bought 4 Bernstein Bear books. That set me back a cool 25 bucks. All I could think is It's going to cost me a thousand dollars to get all the books.

Then one day I was walking at a Savers, which is a large thrift shop in the Northeast U.S.. A thought came to my mind go to the book area and search! I searched through every book in the children's section. I came out with at least 20 new books at $1.25 each and I think there was a buy 5 books get one free deal on top of that.

I left Savers feeling like a millionaire! Now I had a great start to my collection and a new strategy to get it without spending 5 dollars a book. I'm not saying don't go to Barnes & Nobles. There is value in buying books and other things at a retail price. My beautiful wife Ellie just bought there 25 dollar membership. You can get 10% off on a lotta stuff even Starbucks!

I'm just saying if you wanna go to Bear Country and live there with your children, don't underestimate a good thrift store!
